Free temporal fascia flap to cover soft tissue defects of the foot: a case report

چکیده
Severe soft tissue defects as a result of lye contamination remain a huge challenge in the interdisciplinary approach of trauma surgeons and plastic surgeons. Free tissue transfer is a suitable surgical option for successful reconstruction of form and function of defects in the distal parts of the lower extremities. We report the successful two-stage reconstruction of a full thickness lye contamination at the dorsum of the foot with a free temporoparietal fascia flap covered with a split-thickness skin graft from the thigh. The described method is a suitable operative alternative to anterolateral thigh flaps or other thin fascia flaps regarding flap harvest and donor site morbidity and should be considered in the portfolio of the plastic surgeon.

Distally Based Sural Artery Flap: A Workhorse to Cover the Soft Tissue Defects of Distal Leg, Ankle and Foot
Background & Aims: Distal leg, ankle and foot injuries are relatively common; and because of lack of soft tissue and poor blood supply in these areas, one of the common problems in these patients is soft tissue necrosis. Exposed orthopedic implants can be used as open reduction internal fixator (ORIF) in these regions. Methods: During 2013-2014, 14 patients (11 men and 3 women) with a mean age ...
متن کاملReverse Lateral Supramalleolar Adipofascial Flap: A Case Report
Achieving adequate coverage of soft tissue defects located on the lower third of the legs and feet is challenging for reconstructive surgeons. Fasciocutaneous flaps can be used to meet this challenge. Two common fasciocutaneous flaps used in this context are the reverse sural flap and lateral supramalleolar flap (LSMF). Plastic and reconstructive surgeons are relatively unfamiliar with the seco...

Background: A sural artery flap is a fasciocutaneous one based on the reverse blood flow and the anastomosis between the superficial sural artery and the perforators of peroneal artery. This flap is used in order to reconstruct the soft tissue defects of the distal leg, ankle and heel and also to cover the vessels, tendons and bones. It is possible to cover the defects in size 10*12 cm with thi...
متن کاملHow Much Can We do by Reverse Superficial Sural Artery Flap to Potentiate Its Effects: Introducing Spout Sural Flap as a New Modification
BACKGROUND Due to shortage of local donor tissue and unreliable blood supply, free flaps were the mainstay of treatment for tissue defects in the lower leg and foot region, but it requires a qualified microvascular surgeon. Recently, attention has been paid to reverse superficial sural artery flap (RSSAF) and its modifications as a good alternative to pave the way to simple and friendly techni...
متن کاملReverse Peroneal Artery Flap for Large Heel and Sole Defects: A Reliable Coverage
BACKGROUND Large soft tissue defects of ankle and foot always have been challenging to reconstruct. Reverse sural flaps, free flaps have been used for this problem with variable success. Reverse peroneal artery flap is an option to use with reliability without microvascular repair. Connections of peroneal artery around talus and ankle joint are deep and reliable with anterior tibial and post...
